Calamedina - Salobrena, Costa Tropical

This attractive development of twenty two town houses was the brainchild of a local talented architect, Alfonso Cardenas, who was responsible for many of the nicer traditional style villas which are found on the nearby hills overlooking the Costa Tropical coastline and Salobrena.

Calamedina was a larger than normal project for Alfonso as he set out to re-create a small Andalucian village in aprime location right on the coast. This pueblo style development is very rare along the coast and as far as we know is unique. Normally someone looking for this style of property has to compromise leaving the coastal area with its comfortable climate and look further in land at villages such as Frigiliana.

Piece by piece Alfonso skillfully created a complex design of interlocking properties which although just 23 years old seem to have been there for many generations. What makes this development distinct and interesting is that each property is different, with most having magnificent views directly to the sea and Salobrena.

The location that Alfonso chose for this development was ideal. Positioned on the side of an undeveloped hill which slopes down to the lapping sea Calamedina is hidden from almost all but the most inquisitive passers by. This mature development still appears as it was originally designed and around it there has been no further development since about the time of its completion. The surrounding area consists of a handful of impressive villas, typically worth upwards of a million euros, there are no other town houses or apartment buildings close by. The community consists of a number of nationalities with Danish, British, German, Spanish and Canadian all being represented. Most owners do not live in Calamedina and only visit the property rarely. Whilst you can rent out properties here (please see LINK) most owners choose not to.

 

As well as the large and well maintained communal pool there is a communal library with computer and broadband/ADSL access as well as a WIFI system and satellite reception for both SKY and Danish channels.
